Frequently Asked Questions
Do both devices need to be connected to the internet?
No! File Transfer+ works completely offline. As long as your devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi router or one device connects to another's mobile hotspot, transfers run at high local Gigabit speeds with zero cellular data consumption.
Why can't I discover another device on my Wi-Fi?
Ensure both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network (and same subnet). Some public or guest Wi-Fi networks (such as hotel or office networks) enforce "AP Isolation" or "Client Isolation", which blocks devices on the network from seeing each other. If this happens, try turning on your mobile hotspot on one phone and connecting the other device to it.
How does Network Shared Folder work?
When you designate a folder and tap "Host Shared Folder", your device acts as a private mini file server on your local Wi-Fi. Other devices can browse that specific folder and download files using their browser or another instance of File Transfer+ using Open, PIN, or QR code authentication.
Does the app upload any of my files to cloud servers?
Never. 100% of transfers and directory queries take place locally between your devices on your local network. We do not operate any intermediary servers or databases.
Where are incoming files saved on my device?
By default, accepted incoming files are stored in your device's standard Downloads/FileTransfer folder, easily accessible from any file manager.
